Licensing & Subscription
Ship2Invoice licensing controls Live Invoicing while allowing safe access to setup, diagnostics and Observe Only operation.
How Ship2Invoice licensing works
Ship2Invoice licensing controls whether a specific licensed QuickBooks company and installation may use Live Invoicing.
Licensing is separate from Windows code signing and from the customer's billing record.
Licensing per QuickBooks company
Ship2Invoice licensing is based on the QuickBooks company being automated.
A business using multiple QuickBooks companies will normally need an appropriate Ship2Invoice entitlement for each company even when the companies are managed through separate Company Profiles in one Ship2Invoice installation.
Subscription and plan terms
The applicable subscription plan, pricing, licensed-company count, billing terms and any customer-specific commercial terms are stated in the customer's Order, invoice, subscription record or other written agreement with A Simple Solution.
Website documentation does not replace those customer-specific commercial terms.
License states
Depending on the installed version and entitlement, license status may include:
- Active — Live Invoicing may be available when normal setup and safety requirements also pass.
- Grace Period — temporary continued Live access may be permitted by the entitlement.
- Expired — Live Invoicing is blocked.
- Suspended — Live Invoicing is blocked.
- Deactivated or Revoked — Live Invoicing is blocked.
- Invalid or Unlicensed — Live Invoicing is blocked.
Fail-safe behavior
A missing, invalid or inactive Live entitlement should not prevent access to normal setup, diagnostics, reports, support tools or existing local configuration.
When Live writes are not authorized, Ship2Invoice is designed to fail safely by blocking invoice creation and remaining in or reverting to Observe Only behavior.
Activation
Activation associates the Ship2Invoice entitlement with the intended customer, QuickBooks company and production installation.
The application may use information such as the License ID, Installation ID and QuickBooks company identity to validate or administer the entitlement.
See the Privacy Policy for information about licensing data.
Current offline entitlement
Current controlled deployments may use a signed Ship2Invoice license file with the .s2ilicense extension.
The entitlement is digitally verified before Ship2Invoice trusts the license information.
Computer replacement or transfer
A replacement workstation normally requires a controlled license transfer or replacement entitlement.
- Record the current License ID and Installation ID.
- Back up Ship2Invoice configuration.
- Retire or replace the old production activation as directed.
- Install Ship2Invoice on the replacement computer.
- Obtain or apply the appropriate entitlement for the new installation.
- Validate in Observe Only.
- Perform a controlled Live test before resuming normal automation.
Billing status and license status
Billing records and desktop entitlement status are separate administrative layers.
The customer's applicable Order and End User License & Subscription Agreement govern the commercial relationship.
